My Experience
I applied for MIX the day the application opened (July 1, 2015). I know, I'm so weird lol but I had been looking forward to studying abroad for so long! I had the deadline in my phone and got an alert the day it opened. You should set a reminder for yourself because the spring app opens during the summer and it's easy to forget things during that time. The application wasn't difficult and it didn't take me long to complete. I recommend researching host universities early on and preparing a list so you can just copy/paste your list in the application.
Waiting for my nomination was difficult (I was so impatient) but I finally received it on September 29, 2015. Once you receive your nomination, you will need to follow the instructions for your host university. Click here to learn about Keio University's application and required documents (this will need to be completed after you receive your nomination).
Just a note, I was told by the MIX office that once you receive your nomination, you have a spot at that university. So don't worry, they won't reject you at the last minute after you turn in your host university's required documents. But be timely and thorough.
